Seeking nominations for our board of directors – Our Social Fabric

Seeking nominations for our board of directors

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the environment? Do you believe in the power of community-driven initiatives to create lasting change? Our Social Fabric, a non-profit organization based in Vancouver dedicated to eradicating textile waste in Canadian landfills, is actively seeking individuals to join our dynamic and committed Board of Directors.

After a period of significant growth we are looking to add three extraordinary individuals to our Board who share our vision for a more sustainable future and possess unique skills to contribute to our organization.

1) Advocate for the Circular Economy:

Are you plugged into the local circular economy with a keen interest in policy and networking? We are seeking a visionary leader to champion sustainable practices and shape policies that drive positive change in our community. Your passion for the circular economy, combined with a strong network and policy expertise, will help us navigate the complex landscape of textile waste reduction.

2) Legal Expert:

Do you have a legal background and a commitment to environmental sustainability? We are looking for a legal expert to join our board, providing valuable insights into regulatory matters and ensuring our initiatives align with legal frameworks. Your guidance will be instrumental in ensuring our organization operates with the utmost integrity.

3) Retail and Ecommerce Extraordinaire:

Do you have a background in retail and/or ecommerce and a deep appreciation for sustainability and the fibre arts? We are searching for an individual with a passion for creating positive change in consumer behavior and an eye of continuous improvement in operational delivery. Your expertise in retail and ecommerce will help us develop innovative strategies to ensure we save even more fabric from the landfill.

All candidates should share our commitment to sustainability and the fibre arts. By joining Our Social Fabric, you'll be part of a dedicated team working towards a more environmentally conscious future whilst being part of a wider community who love the fibre arts.

If you or someone you know is ready to make a meaningful contribution, please submit nominations or expressions of interest via email.  Applicants don’t have to live in the Vancouver Lower Mainland but it would be preferable. Applicants must be able to attend monthly board meetings via Zoom and our annual strategy meeting, held in-person in Vancouver.

Ideally nominations will be submitted by March 15, but we will accept nominations until we fill the essential roles. Please pass this call for nominations along to anyone you know who may be interested!

Together, we can create the future where no textile waste ends up in Canadian landfills.
