Using our fabrics

Colour representation

We make every effort to photograph each piece of textile to accurately represent the pattern, colours and textures accurately. However, variations in upload speed, monitor, display settings and daylight will sometimes distort colours etc. If an exact colour match is needed, you may wish to visit our in-person shop when we have a sale event

Measurement

The prices listed on our website are for a piece of fabric. Widths and lengths of fabric pieces will vary from fabric to fabric.

The width of the fabric will be stated in the main product listing. The length of the fabric can be selected from the drop down menu.

You will be able to add multiple pieces of fabric to your basket if we have more than one available.

We do occasionally offer fabric and notions cut by the metre. The product listing description will clearly state this.

Fabric content

Due to the way we source our fabrics we often do not know the exact fibre content and care instructions. We do our best to estimate the content using burn testing and lots of experience!

We include any content and care instructions we have in the product description. It’s a good idea to take note of them at the time of purchase.

We visually check each piece of fabric before it is sold. If you get the fabric home and you notice a defect or something we might have missed, please get in touch by emailing hello@oursocialfabric.ca

Before you sew

It's tempting to jump right in and sew your fabric but before you do we recommend that you pre-wash and dry your fabric in the manner you intend to wash and dry your finished garment.

It’s always best to wash each piece of fabric separately for the first wash in case of colour bleeding or other laundry mishaps!
