New Volunteer Opportunity: Textile Inventory Coordinator
We’re looking for fabric experts!
Do you know your rayon from your herringbone? Your spandex from your burlap? If you love textiles and want to make a positive environmental impact, we’d love to have you on our team.
We’re looking for Textile Inventory Coordinators - volunteers who help us accept fabric donations and sort them into types so they’re ready for sale and reuse.
This role is perfect for you if:
-
You’re organized, self-motivated, and have a professional demeanour.
-
You have a knack for spotting what needs to get done and proactively doing it.
-
You enjoy working with beautiful, high-quality fabrics and fibre arts supplies.
What you’ll do:
-
Help receive and process incoming fabric donations. This involves meeting our amazing donors as they drop off their donations.
-
Sort fabrics by type and fibre content using our established categories.
-
Support our mission of reducing textile waste by preparing materials for resale.
What you’ll need:
-
A good eye (and hand!) for fabric types - knowledge of burn testing is an asset but not required (we’ll teach you!).
-
Comfort with physical tasks - this role requires lifting bolts and boxes of fabric.
-
Familiarity with Trello or a similar tool is preferable, as we use this to coordinate our work.
Why volunteer with us?
-
Make a meaningful environmental impact by keeping textiles out of landfill.
-
Work with gorgeous, high-quality fabrics and meet others who share your passion.
-
Expect to have a lot of fun - and move a lot of fabric!
Volunteer hours for this role are:
-
Tuesdays: 10AM–4PM
-
Wednesdays: 10AM–2PM
-
Thursdays: 10AM–4PM
Join us for just one day a week or take on the full role - it’s up to you!
