When you donate to or make a purchase from Our Social Fabric you are making a difference.
Not only are you helping us to keep fabric out of Canadian landfills but you are also helping to support:
- the operational costs of running a non-profit organization including rent, business expenses, and employing our small part-time team.
- the Sew Fun(d) Scholarship, our in-house program that gives young designers in the Vancouver Lower Mainland area an opportunity to get a brand-new sewing machine.
- future talent in sustainable design through the "Wilson School of Design and Our Social Fabric Zero Waste Design Competition" at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. (Image: 2024 winner, Clara Devina)

- financial donations to other non-profit organizations. Recent financial donations have included Mamas for Mamas, Red Cross BC, Reconciliation Canada, and the Ukrainian Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.
- our in-kind donation program which provide free-of-charge fabric and supplies to other non-profits and educational institutions. Recently we contributed fabric to the Connections Community Service Society (CCSS) in support of their Indigenous youth textile program. CCSS aims to share Indigenous teachings and culture with families. Our donation was utilized to create Ribbon Skirts, Button Blankets, and Button Drum Bags. After Hazel Trembath School in Port Coquitlam was tragically affected by fire earlier in 2023, we provided fabric that was used to establish a temporary classroom for Kindergarteners. In the aftermath of the incident, the school community was temporarily moved to an older building, and our fabric played a role in enhancing the learning environment in this temporary space.
