Sewing the *perfect* white tee – Our Social Fabric

Sewing the *perfect* white tee

A good white tee is the cornerstone of any wardrobe, offering versatility and timeless appeal. Its simplicity serves as a blank canvas for endless styling possibilities, allowing you to showcase your unique personality and creativity. Whether dressed up with a blazer and statement jewelry for a chic evening look or paired with jeans and sneakers for effortless street style, the white tee epitomizes effortless cool and sophistication.

Our team has been busy adding a stack of white cotton jersey to the online store and it’s given us the opportunity to sew up and share some of our ride-or-die tee patterns.

Here’s what we made and our thoughts on the patterns:

Erin - Helen’s Closet Jackson Tee

“I’ve made over 20 of these t-shirts. I love the oversized fit and how easy it is to make. It’s also not gender specific so I’ve made it for my husband and as well”

MaryAn - Vogue Calvin Klein V2011

“I just keep using this pattern because it was the first one that I didn’t have to make many adjustments to, length is perfect for my long torso. It’s overall a great fitting shirt!“

Beth - The Great British Sewing Bee book 2016 Breton Tee

“I like the wide neckline and how easy it was to sew with only 4 pieces”

Jennifer - Sewaholic Renfrew Top

(shortened sleeves, added asymmetrical panel on one side)

“It’s a straight cut and a great fit!”

Colleen - True Bias Rio Ringer Shirt

“It’s the first t-shirt pattern I’ve made that fits me perfectly”

Cornelia - self drafted

(pattern based a favourite RTW t-shirt)

“I really like the cut of the sleeves of my favourite store-bought tee. Being able to sew your own tees means I can have one in every colour now!”

Gemma - Helens Closet Jackson Tee

“I used a white rib knit for the neckband of my tee and increased the depth of the band to mimic by favourite RTW tee. I love the boxy, genderless feel of this pattern. This white tee has fast become a favourite in my closet.”

  • I love the Style Arc Rowe’s Raglan. It has such a beautiful V neck that is really easy to do, and the back has an interesting angled yoke. It’s my ride or die TShirt :)
