Sew & Show 2026: Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey

One fabric, four sewists, and four completely different garments - our third Sew & Show of 2026 highlights just how versatile our Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey is.

The Our Social Fabric Sew & Show Program celebrates the creativity of our sewing community while showcasing the unique fabrics available at Our Social Fabric. Through the program, sewists from across Canada receive a featured fabric, create garments, and share their finished makes to inspire others. This round featured our beautiful Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey, a soft, stretchy performance knit with excellent recovery, making it ideal for everything from activewear and loungewear to everyday basics.

We were thrilled to see the range of projects created by Jennifer, Mary, Heather, and Madison using the same fabric.

Jennifer (@jennsyarnaddiction)

Jennifer, who can be found on Instagram at @jennsyarnaddiction, created an impressive collection of coordinating separates and romper-inspired pieces. She used the Summer Nights Romper & Two-Piece Set and South Shore Romper from Ellie & Mac, along with the Endless Summer Tee from Pattern Emporium.

Jennifer was excited when she learned the featured fabric was supplex and quickly discovered why it is such a favourite among garment sewists.

"The fabric is very giving and has excellent recovery. The fabric is so comfy and great for loungewear, but also has nice enough hang to pair with dressier tops."

By combining romper-inspired styling with the flexibility of separates, Jennifer created versatile pieces that can easily transition from relaxing at home to everyday wear.

Mary (babababear on Threadloop)

Mary set herself an additional challenge for this Sew & Show: creating garments using patterns from independent BC designers. The result was two wardrobe staples that showcase different sides of her personal style.

Her first project was the Nicole Top by BF Patterns, a fitted top featuring a built-in bra. Her second was the Jackson Tee by Helen's Closet, a relaxed everyday t-shirt.

Mary appreciated both the softness of the Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey and the opportunity to build her confidence working with knit fabrics.

"The supplex is super soft, I love the colour, and they were a great education on working with stretchier fabrics."

The two tops offer very different silhouettes, demonstrating the versatility of the fabric. The Nicole Top provides a more fitted, polished look, while the Jackson Tee creates an easy, relaxed shape perfect for casual wear.

Heather (@manitoulinthreads)

Heather, who shares her sewing projects on Instagram as @manitoulinthreads, transformed the Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey into a practical and stylish outfit.

For her top, she drafted a t-shirt pattern based on a ready-to-wear favourite. She paired it with the Vanessa Pants by Jalie, creating a comfortable coordinated set. Heather also incorporated a flat drawstring and waistband elastic from Our Social Fabric, along with grommets from her stash.

Her project highlights another strength of supplex fabrics: durability and comfort for active, everyday garments. The resulting outfit looks equally suited to running errands, travelling, or relaxing at home.

Madison (@littlelarryloos)

Madison (@littlelarryloos) chose patterns that showcase the athletic side of the Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey. She made the Nico Pullover by Summer Haus and paired it with Bike Shorts from Swim Style Patterns.

Using primarily her serger, Madison found the fabric straightforward and enjoyable to sew.

The combination of a lightweight pullover and fitted bike shorts demonstrates how well supplex performs in activewear-inspired garments. With its smooth hand, excellent stretch, and reliable recovery, the fabric is ideal for pieces that need to move comfortably with the wearer throughout the day.

One Fabric, Endless Possibilities

One of our favourite things about Sew & Show is seeing how differently each participant interprets the same fabric. From fitted tops and relaxed tees to pullovers, bike shorts, pants, and romper-inspired separates, this round perfectly demonstrates the versatility of our Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey.

The fabric's soft feel, comfortable stretch, excellent recovery, and beautiful drape made it a standout choice for a wide variety of garments. Whether you're sewing activewear, loungewear, everyday basics, or versatile separates, Cloudy Sky Supplex Jersey is a fabric that can do it all.

A huge thank you to Jennifer, Mary, Heather, and Madison for sharing their creativity and inspiring our sewing community with their beautiful makes. We loved seeing what each of you created and can't wait to showcase more projects in future Sew & Show rounds.
