Sew & Show 2026 Kickoff: One Fabric, Three Inspiring Makers
Sew & Show 2026 Kickoff: One Fabric, Three Inspiring Makers
We’re thrilled to begin our first Sew & Show of 2026 by celebrating the creativity of three talented community members who each transformed our beautiful Old Stone Melange Merino Wool Jersey into something entirely their own. The Sew & Show program is all about connection, inspiration, and discovering the possibilities within the fabrics at Our Social Fabric - and this trio of garments is a perfect place to start.
Our featured fabric, the Old Stone Melange Merino Wool Jersey, is a lightweight knit with soft drape, gentle stretch, and breathable comfort - ideal for everything from base layers to flowing garments. Made from 100% merino wool with generous width and natural stretch, it offers both versatility and everyday wearability, making it a dream choice for thoughtful sewing projects.

Morgan A (@sewn.from.the.heart) — Grasser 1085 Dress

Morgan chose Grasser 1085, a pattern that highlights elegant shaping and fluid movement - perfectly suited to the soft drape of merino jersey. The resulting dress feels both refined and wearable, showcasing how lightweight wool can transition beautifully into everyday wardrobes.
Morgan’s make is a reminder that natural fibres and well-chosen patterns can create garments that feel timeless rather than seasonal.
Melanie K (@sewmelwyk) — Burdastyle 131-08-2013 Scarf Top

Melanie explored the fabric’s softness and stretch through Burdastyle 131-08-2013, a distinctive top featuring an integrated scarf detail. This design leans into the merino jersey’s fluid drape, letting the scarf fall naturally while maintaining a clean, wearable shape.
The result is equal parts cozy and sophisticated - an elevated basic that demonstrates how thoughtful pattern details can transform a simple knit into a standout garment. Lightweight merino is especially effective here, providing warmth without bulk and comfort without sacrificing style.
Pamela L (@pamalamadingdong) — A Study in Versatility

Pamela took a creative deep dive, producing multiple garments from the same fabric - each revealing a different strength of merino wool jersey:
-
Wide-leg pants (hacked Jallade Joggers)
-
T-shirt (hacked Stellan Tee by French Navy)
-
Self-drafted dress
-
Self-drafted asymmetrical blouse paired with wide-leg pants, featuring delicate shoulder and side details
Together, these pieces form a cohesive mini-wardrobe built on comfort, movement, and understated elegance. Pamela’s work beautifully demonstrates the adaptability of lightweight merino jersey - from relaxed separates to more sculptural, design-forward silhouettes.
Celebrating Creativity Through Sew & Show
The Sew & Show program exists to spotlight makers like Morgan, Melanie, and Pamela - talented sewists who bring fabric to life in ways that inspire the entire community. By sharing their garments through photos, stories, and finished pieces, they help others imagine what’s possible while also giving new energy to fabrics waiting on our shelves.
This initiative reflects what Our Social Fabric is all about:
community connection, creative reuse, and making sewing more accessible. Every featured project highlights not just a fabric, but the imagination and care of the person who chose to sew it.
We’re so grateful to our Sew & Show participants for starting 2026 with such thoughtfulness and creativity - and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.
Stay tuned for more inspiring makes, and if you’ve been dreaming about your next project, this soft, breathable merino jersey might be the perfect place to begin. ✂️

Seeing these gorgeous creations is so helpful in my understanding of how I could use knit fabric. I haven’t had the ovaries to dive into sewing with stretch fabric … but these three push me forward: definitely this year!
