Our top 3 fabric gift wrap methods
Our top 3 fabric gift wrap methods
We love using our fabric scraps and special pieces of cloth to wrap gifts for our favourite people. Today we share our top three methods with tutorials so you can try them!
1. The Fabric Square
Grab a piece of fabric and finish the raw edges and simply wrap around your gift then tie. We find the square pieces of fabric work best but slightly rectangular pieces can also work. Finish the edges of the fabric with a double-turned hem, serged edges or try this simple mitered corner technique:
2. Azuma bag
This Origami-like bag, sometimes called a bento bag, is made with just one piece of rectangular fabric. We found this tutorial very simple to follow:
3. Envelope
We love this version for using up any odd shaped pieces of fabric. Trim the edges to make a rectangle. Fold the rectangle in half long-wise with right sides facing. Sew the long edges together. Then it's time to finish the top - fold the top of the bag back on itself right sides facing (we folded back around 3/4") and press. Unfold and bring the raw edge to meet the crease, then press. Fold it again at the original crease and pin the edge. You'd made a double-fold hem, now edgestitch around the hem. Et voila, you have a simple envelope you can tie with a ribbon or string.
