11,404 Pounds Diverted from Landfill in March!

March was a big month for Our Social Fabric - and for textile reuse in our community.
Thanks to your donations and support, we diverted an incredible 11,404 pounds of fabric and sewing-related materials from landfill in March 2026. That’s more than five and a half tons of textiles, notions, and sewing supplies kept in circulation instead of being thrown away.
It’s an amazing milestone and a powerful reminder of what our community can achieve together.
Every donation we receive helps extend the life of materials that still have plenty of value left in them. Fabric that might otherwise sit unused or end up in landfill can become quilts, garments, costumes, art projects, and so much more in the hands of creative makers.
This milestone is only possible because of the many people who support Our Social Fabric:
- Donors who pass along their fabric and sewing supplies
- Volunteers who sort, measure, and prepare materials for resale
- Shoppers who choose reclaimed textiles for their projects
Each part of this cycle helps keep textiles in use and reduces waste.
Seeing numbers like this makes us incredibly hopeful for the year ahead. If March is any indication, 2026 is off to a fantastic start.
Thank you for helping us keep fabric in use and out of landfill.
