This is it, folks – the last sale of the year at Our Social Fabric – this Sunday, November 19 at 10:00 am!!
Still working on your sewing list for Christmas, that’s OK, our shelves are stocked and ready for you.
Storage locker bonus find! Digging through the mountain of fabric stored in our locker, we uncovered two bolts of Premium Quality Active Wear – two types of black jersey, one of which is peached* with 12% lycra) as well as a lovely turquoise colour that will liven up your life. (*Peached finish is soft to the touch, like velvet)
Fleece / Easy Christmas Gifts
Need ideas for Christmas gifts that are quick and easy and require no sewing! Turn a 1.5 meter piece of technical fleece into a throw blanket for the couch or to wrap around you at the soccer field. Just cut to size, fringe the edges and voila! a Christmas gift is made! Why not make a car blanket for a friend or your co-worker. See sample in the shop of a double sided
blanket that will keep you warm on those really cold nights. Personalize it with your own appliqué, embroidery or colourful buttons (yes, we’ve got lots of buttons too!)
Soft Natural & Synthetic Tweed
This fabric is hard to describe but is lovely to the touch. It looks like a tweed but has a soft hand like a knit – it’s a blend of synthetic and natural fibers. We made an elegant no-sew, gathered and fringed shawl with matching wrap-around skirt for the shop display (see photo). This fabric would also make a lovely knee-length coat dress, jacket or a cozy shirt. Here’s a link to Silhouette Patterns YouTube video to make the no-sew gathered shawl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT9bptk_yVk . Now you have something classy to wear to the company Christmas Party!
Power Dry Base Fabric
There is still some of this superior fabric left in navy blue and red. It’s meant to wick moisture away from your skin. Fast drying, highly breathable, lightweight and easy care makes it the right choice for your fall and winter sportswear needs.
Our OSF team is always coming up with creative ways to use discarded and unwanted fabric. One of our team members made 50 blue felt gift bags for her community’s Christmas party. Kids get to decorate the bags with paper-punched snowflakes and stars and take them home to use at Christmas for giving gifts. Next project – 50 peachy pink Christmas stockings! OMG!
We have new donations coming in every week so come and see!
If you don’t find what you are looking for on the shelves, just ask, we may have something in the back.
