Sorting Sheila’s Stash

On Canada Day, a few of us got together for a sorting party, where we organized and priced some recent donations. Our Volunteer Coordinator Leah got to sort through her favourite type of donations — an estate donation. These are brought to OSF after someone has passed away. They’re full of interesting stuff, and they hold special meaning to us.

On her blog, Leah writes, “There is always the usual: yardage, thread, notions, buttons; and a few surprises: baby teeth, boot hooks, phonograph needles. I often become a little attached to the glimpse I get of the previous keeper, and I’m always grateful. I hope when I am gone, someone will do the same for me.”

Leah wrote a tribute to Sheila, the woman who originally owned this intensely personal collection. READ THE FULL STORY HERE.
